Leigh Barnett, a director of GQ Wealth Management, took part in the Race the Sun event in the Lake District. A team of four completed a 50 mile cycle, hike to the summit of England’s second highest mountain – Helvellyn at 3,116 ft. and canoe a 2 mile course on Thirlmere Lake. The challenge had to be completed from sunrise to sunset, which gave them approx. 14 hours to do it in. They completed the challenge in 9.5 hours and all in one piece.

Due to time restraints with a growing family and running his own business, Leigh still feels a responsibility to help people that are less fortunate than him. As he can’t currently give his time to volunteer on a regular basis, He has helped raise additional monies, which will help in other ways.

After the event Leigh had this to say - “it was horrible and good fun at different parts of the race”.
